This Æ Prutah was minted during the First Jewish-Roman War (66-70 CE), a major rebellion of Judea against Roman rule. Struck in Year 2 (67/68 CE) of the war, this coin reflects the nationalist and religious symbolism of the Jewish resistance.

 

Obv. Amphora (storage jar), possibly symbolizing the oil or wine used in the Temple of Jerusalem.

 

Rev. Vine leaf on a branch with tendril, a traditional Jewish symbol representing the land and people of Judea.
